Senior Java Lead Developer – Java, Grails, Groovy, Spring, TDD, Mentoring

A fast-growing online retailer looking to consolidate their position as a leader in the marketplace is looking for Senior Java Lead Developer to lead and build upon a small team in a highly Agile environment who will be maintaining and adding new features to the company website, as well as integrating with their ERP system. They are looking for someone with comprehensive Java, Spring and Hibernate experience, who also has commercial experience of coding in the Groovy language on the Grails framework.

Responsibilities:
*Building a successful team of strong Java engineers
*Creating, maintaining and developing new software tools, applications, datasets, analysis and implementation code
*Overall responsibility for the delivery of development projects and releases to an agreed schedule, within timescales and to budget
*Overall responsibility for the quality of product, the continuous integration and release process
*Focusing on delivery against published roadmaps and working on the delivery schedule with third parties and other teams within the company
*Ensuring specifications and correct implementation is undertaken
*Interfacing effectively and building relationships within IT and the business
*Scrum Master

Essentials:
*7+ years of software development experience
*Strong abilities in recruiting talented developers
*Experience with mentoring Java developers
*Expert in OOP with Java and Spring framework
*Commercial experience of Groovy and Grails
*Database experience (MySQL preferable)
*Experience of working in an Agile environment
*Experience with SOA using REST, SOAP and MQ
*Degree level education in Computer Science or related engineering field
*Strong written and verbal communication skills

Desirable:
*Experience with a Version Control system, such as Subversion
*Web-based and UI development experience
