Systems Engineer/Developer – Linux / Scripting / DNS / Cloud /Virtualisation

A market leading Managed Hosting company, specialised in the cloud technology industry, is looking for a Systems Engineer to join their team in London.

The successful candidate will have 2-3 years experience as a Systems Engineer/Developer and be keen grow their technical and business skills in a fast growing company.

You should be capable of working with customers on customer facing projects, as well as on complex internal development projects. Given the diverse nature of our work you will need to be flexible to work with a wide range of technologies and systems.

This role requires a person with high energy and enthusiasm for both Cloud & Virtualisation technologies. You will be working with the following technologies:

• Amazon Elastic Computing cloud (EC2)
• Google App Engine & Force.com
• Cloud computing technology
• The programmable web (RESTful API integration)

Responsibilities:

• Providing services to a number of different internal and external customers (with the potential opportunity of leading a small group of engineers).
• Manage customer migrations to The Cloud – predominantly Google Apps and Amazon Web Services.
• Carry out systems integration work.
• Develop skills and mentor graduate systems engineers.
• Build strong loyalty within our distributed development team through social events and activities.
• Develop and deploy in-house developed products to our customers.

Essential Skills:

• First or upper second class honours degree (BSc/BEng) or masters equivalent in Informatics, Engineering or Computer Sciences.
• Script programming languages (Python and Java/Perl is a plus).
• Linux system administration.
• An interest in Virtualisation / Cloud.
• Detailed experience of Internet technologies (mail systems, domain name systems, web services).
• Highly motivated and proactive, with proven leadership ability.
• A good planner and communicator (spoken and written English).
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment.

Perfect Candidate will also possess:

• Experience with Virtualisation and Cloud (Amazon)
• Chef automation.
